It's Good Friday and time to think about faith, sacrifice, great love ... cooking and table settings. The majestic and the mundane pressed against each other. Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song. Pope John Paul II.
The great gift of Easter is hope - Christian hope which makes us have that confidence in God, in his ultimate triumph, and in his goodness and love, which nothing can shake. Basil C. Hume. Happy Easter!

Amen and Hallelujah!
Happy Easter, belatedly.

Hope - is there any other holiday that emphasizes hope like Easter? Beautiful pure white tulips, Becca. Oh, and I've been listening to Christine Falls (not a particularly hopeful book) and am about 2/3 through. What gorgeous beautiful prose. Looking forward to Silver Swan.

I forgot to ask in my last comment. Is that a Poole pottery vase, your lovely white tulips are in? x

Dear Becca, thank you so much for all your nice comments! I would like to wish you and your family happy Easter-days. Sometimes I wish our society would spend some more attention to the religious message of Easter, but unfortunately Easter seems to be just a feast with chocolate eggs. It's so nice to read those deep words on your blog! Thank you. Love and greetings, Marjolijn

Becca, your quotes are a balm to my soul right now; more comforting than you know. It is good to trust in Him, it is good to look at beautiful white tulips. Thanks for sharing the joy.

I didn't realize where the phrase "Easter people" was from until your post today. Good Friday is indeed a time for reflection.

Wishing you a peaceful Easter with time to finish that impressive pile of Josephine Tey between the cooking and the eating.

Lovely words, flowers, and of course the books! I like that "the majestic and the mundane."
