Reading for Sanity
There are no words to describe the "cold turkey" reentry from 84 degree sunshine to 10 degree wind and weather! But ... reading keeps me sane. I finished Singing Sands by Josephine Tey (wonderful, fabulous) and have nearly completed the charming and very amusing novella by Alan Bennett, The Uncommon Reader. Then back to John Banville (an old flame) in the guise of Benjamin Black. Christine Falls is so very well written and as compelling a detective novel as I have read in years. Really the man is a genius.

Sometimes in April during school vacation, we used to travel south about three hours, and it was almost too much to take. We could watch the climate, the trees, the grass, the flowers change minute by minute on our drive until we reached Spring. And then at the end of the day we would drive home to late Winter. I think it is almost harder to go away and come back than it is to just wait for it to come in its own time.

You do look cold, we haven't had any snow yet! You are doing the best thing by staying warm indoors with a good book. I hope you thaw out soon. x

We had an identical view (of snow) Friday morning. Truly, it's beautiful to me, even if everyone here in Illinois is SICK to death of it! And, they are!

Wow Becca! I can't believe you have so much snow. You need to move to DC.

Wow, you really have had the two extremes. The snow is beautiful but that beach sure did look fabulous.
