Interlude

Img_0705

It is hard to believe today ... in single digit temperatures and snowy conditions ... that it was 80 degrees and sunny with a soft warm breeze all weekend ... but that was in Naples, FL. I snapped this photo of our neighbor's beach umbrella while they were ordering a beer from the beach bar. It was a veritable Corona commercial.

There were alligators, egrets and turtles, bougainvillea and hibiscus. It was a different world where we woke at 7:30 am to a long slow cup of black coffee, then walked miles along the coastline. We lounged on beach chairs, then walked home ... sipped wine poolside and ate out every night. Three days felt like three weeks away (stress melts in high temperatures) and I returned to the snow with a golden tan. It is so good to get warm and breathe clear ocean air.

It all looks positively dreamy. It sounds like you had a relaxing time.

I think I will take the snow and cold over alligators! :<)

Oh pass me some of that sunshine! That is the amazing thing about your country, it is SO BIG that you get all kinds of climate, I think we Brits get over excited about our weather, but it is not as variable as that...

Thanks for sharing your interlude.

We could do with some of that here! Sounds like a lovely break.

Those images gives me the right feeling of a sunny and warm day. Wow! There were alligators!

Did you know Isabella, from the blog Naples, Florida Daily Photo? It's a great blog of photos! Worth a visiting!

Beautiful photos, and yes you are right in saying, sunshine does take the stress out of life. The photo of the alligator reminded me of the 'croc' we saw in Australia recently, they are incredible creatures, but never smile at one! I am so glad you had a wonderful time in the warm, at least a short respite from the cold. x

Just looking at those photos takes some of the tension out of me. What a lovely spot.

That looks and sounds most amazing. I hope you brought some of that warmth home with you!

I always use the phrase " the warm melts your bones" . We live in the mountains as you know and whilst it never ever gets as cold as where you are we always look forward to an annual beach holiday.

Your photo of the beach umbrellas is wonderful.

And bouganvillea ? I love that vine!
