Nature as Inspiration

Herman_yu_design_1_4 I have been inspired by artists who use nature as their muse. Herman Yu's work is beautiful and I have been reading a book on William Morris - an exceptional artist and designer who used nature as a model for almost all he did. Morris' design work is brilliant.

I have decided to return to the quilt shop tomorrow to find additional fabric for my quilt. Clearly I need material with much more pattern, design and color to it. I have done a bit more quilt research and really admire Kaffe Fasset's and Amy Butler's work). William_morris_design_1

Found you through Amanda D., my mom. What book about Wm Morris are you reading? I'd be interested to check it out.

William Morris's work is beautiful, isn't it? An old roommate of mine had a friend whose mother knitted Kaffe Fasset-inspired sweaters. She showed me one such sweater her mom had knitted for her and I was completely blown away by it. It was amazing.

Found you through Susanna. Like your your fabric choices very much! Textiles call me!!

Have fun working on your quilt!

The quilt will be a treasure, and so will the baby!

i love the pillows, they look so beautiful.

Oh....Kaffe Fassett, William Morris....both have been of great inspiration to me.

Morris' work is timeless isn't it.
What colors are you leaning towards?

I love those pillows. There are so many creative people out there that I would never have even heard of without blogging.

Your quilt is going to be so perfect. Have you read William Morris' book? It is a little utopian novel that is quite enjoyable reading.

Best of luck on the fabric choosing. How much time do you have?

Thank you for sharing the work of Herman Yu and Amy Butler - beautiful fresh and designs and colours – both are new to me.
I've loved the work of William Morris since I was at school. I had a holiday job at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge - the office chairs were Morris & Co as was the wallpaper! Kaffe Fassett too is an inspiration - especially his knitting patterns and needlepoint and use of scale and colour.

I think I am looking forward more to the progress of this quilt than progress on the pregnancy!

Is that naughty of me?
