Herbs & Flowers
I suppose it is only natural to be thinking Spring in the middle of Winter. Flowers just seem to brighten up my life ... and really, in my opinion, no one does flower arranging better than the British who not only have a wonderful climate for growing herbs and perennials, but, then they do such magical things with the blooms and greens! The Real Flower Company in Petersfield, Hampshire and Petersham in Richmond, Surrey are two extraordinary places. If you need to smell the flowers today (as I do) then you might stop by their websites and be encouraged. I hope all of you are healthy, cheerful and surviving the cold.
Thank you for saying such nice things about the English... I just have to agree with you of course! ;-)
I am busy planning out the new design for my small front garden and am looking forward to warmer, drier whether in which to start work.

Oooh...those are beautiful and I bet they smell heavenly. Too bad I can't scratch & sniff my computer monitor to take in their scents! :)

I grow cut flowers as a living - its just too wet to grow roses here so when brides have their hearts set on roses I order them from the Real Flower Company as they have a range that is grown in England.
As these are the only flowers that I don't grow myself I have to be confident that they are going to be wonderful - they are.
At this time of year they are importing from their farms in Kenya - but as soon as it gets to May you can specify English grown.
Petersham is one of my most favourite places - I was lucky last year to get a guided tour of their gardens and everything over the wall was just as wonderful as the actual nursery.
All good dreaming stuff for this dull weather,
I got here via a search on flowers - glad I did,
J

I am not ready to abandon winter yet, at all, but these pictures are lovely. It's always wonderful when someone can do the unexpected with flowers.
Once, I asked my husband what would be the best kind of flowers for my desk at school. He replied, "Silk."
I'm not to good at growing them, myself.

Nothing prettier than a bouquet of flowers. I should have one in my house more often than I do. They just make you happier when you see them, and inhale that great fragrance.

Love those photos - totally agree that flowers do cheer you up in these dreich days. I've got some gorgeous white hyacinths on the dining room table at the moment, you can smell them as soon as you come into the house - wonderful for lifting the spirits!

What a great place to visit while we're in-between flowerings.

There is nothing like herbs and flowers to lift the spirits on a dull day, the sort of weather we are experiencing over here at the moment. These are two of many websites out there offering such lovely bouquets. Petersfield isn't a million miles away from me here in West Sussex, just have to pop across in a north westerly direction to the next county. Those flowers in the photos almost jump out at you from the page, it is a shame you just can't lean towards the computer screen to smell them! x

Yes we are indeed lucky to be able to grow the most wondeful flowers though of course these days many flowers are shipped in from African destinations! Cash crops when they should be growing their food. Oh dear, I sound grouchy, I obviously need to go and smell the flowers too!

I particularly love the flowers bottom left! Gorgeous...
I've only just noticed the Anais Nin quote below your header...I haven't heard it before, but I love it and so have copied it down and will find somewhere to put it so that I can see it each day. Thank you for being the provider of such loveliness!
